Halloween Breakfast and Party

pic1The middle and high school sunday school class prepared a spooky Halloweenpic2 breakfast. They conjored up green eggs, blue gravy and orange pancakes! Yum!

Later in the day we dressed up and went on a hay ride, had a bonfire, ate dinner and played games at Ann and David Richmond's Farm.

Allison Asay at General Convention

Allison was elected as a lay deputy at our Diocesan Convention in 2008 and will be active in church legislation during the ten days of the Convention: July 8-17. General Convention is a meeting of deputations all the dioceses and provinces of the Episcopal Church - for prayer and worship, for discussion, legislation, and action. When Allison returns we  will have a forum on General Convention.   Fr. Alan will discuss his previous experiences as a deputy to the Convention, and will explain the structure and workings of our larger Episcopal Church. Allison will explain the preparation she and the other deputies have done over the past several months and  present some of the resolutions discussed at Convention . The evening should be a lively one,  and we hope you will come.

Please take time to visit the website of The Episcopal Church and the General Convention website. All of the proposed resolutions are posted within the Convention website, and during the Convention itself, you will be able to follow different resolutions as they are argued in committee and voted for or against on the floor.

If you are curious as to the Lexington deputation's views on any of the resolutions, feel free to send Allison an email. She will be happy to relay what she has learned from the other deputies and her own thoughts and concerns about any of the resolutions facing the Convention.

Please keep the Lexington deputation, and all deputies from other dioceses, in your thoughts and prayers. General Convention is a tiring and intense experience for all the deputies as they prayerfully work to discern the Holy Spirit in all pieces of legislation to come before the Church.

Allison will be keeping a blog as she prepares for Convention and will occasionally update while she's there: http://awakemysoul-generalconvention.blogspot.com/
